Relaxation At Its Best!

Hmm..Woke up amazingly late today(12pm!!). Maybe its due to sleeping at around 2am yesterday and only for about 1.5 hrs the day before. As I laze on the bed for about 15 mins before I actually forced myself out of the bed. Reach out for the first thing when I get off the bed, my handphone. OMG! 6 new messaages! 4 missed calls and 1 voice message. Practically crawled to the bathroom(fortunately its nearby) after replying the messages. Got myself a shower and checked out what's available for brunch or should I say lunch. EMBARASSED o_-" Hmm..fried mee, yau char kuey + coffee and 2 buns with dried meat floss(My personal fave! Yeah!) Checked my mails this morning. Damn those spammers and their spam mails! Unfortunately, friendster was down. In the end, I spent about an hour trying to figure out what I can do to the layout of this blog. Drove out with my neighbour to pump my car's petrol, fetched him to the clinic for his Hepatitis B booster jab and discussed about how to perform a weekly checkup for my car's condition and how to improve fuel consumption. After all those mechanic wannabe sessions, I got back just in time to watch the Golden Melody Awards. Went back to bed for a nap(Haven't slept like this for god knows how long..*counts* about 3 weeks - after the trials). Woke up at 6.30pm to watch Westside Story. Caught up with the news. Heard about the derail accident at London's Porters Bay. The aftermath was awful. But I was still impressed with the way Royal Free Hospital runs. Its absolutely superb! Anyway, I guess I have to touch my books a little before I finally reach into dreamland. Hopefully I can get some exam answers from tonight's dream... =p

My First Interview And My Ex-Classmate

The situation this morning was breath-taking! I was scheduled for the IMU interview 2 days after I submitted my form. Wow! Talk about efficiency. However, I was really excited and nervous since yesterday night. As I arrive at IMU around 9am, I met up with my classmate Bryan Wong at the reception. Got a little relaxed then. After signing in and marking my attendence at the counter, I joined Bryan at the waiting list. As I was a little inexperienced, I kinda brought all my certificates to IMU. Luckily, Bryan adviced me to only show them the important certs. There goes the arrangement of my clear holder.

Waited at the room for about 1.5 hours before another classmate of mine arrived, Kwong Yew. Then I saw her....the girl in black. I started talking to myself, "Why does this girl looked so familiar to me? Where have I seen her before?". Of course, I started to get a little more nervous now as the time remaining till my entrance into the interview room became more and more limited. I had no choice but to turn to my prayers as a last resort to calm me down.

Not long after that, Bryan came out looking more relaxed compared to the time he went in. We started chatting about the interview, what they asked him and how he answered. It was this time I met a new friend as well, Ben Shyen. He's already a student in IMU and I am really grateful that he actually took time off to give us a few pointers and advices on how to tackle the type of questions might be asked. Then I got really shocked when the "black" girl came up to me and asked "Are you from MPS?". I immediately got the answer in my head, but it just wouldn't come out from my mouth. After about 10 seconds, I finally said, "Err...Yeah". That made her asked me another question, to make sure if she really knows me, I think. "Are you from 1 Melur last time? We are one of the few who were transfered to 2 Matahari last time". I was like..Wha?? How did this girl manage to know who was I last time? Anyway, I am really impressed with her memory. At last, she told me that her name is Melissa.

After thinking for like 5 secs, I gave up, I have forgotten almost everything about my std 1 and 2 days. The only few things I remembered was my few very close friends ; Lee Jin Siang, Kelvin Wong, Vicky and some of the teachers. But this Melissa was exceptional. I had this gut feeling that I've known her for ages and I still can't recall her name. I had to give it a wild shot. I asked her if her name was Melissa Chong. She said no, her name was Melissa Tian. At this time, I got more and more frustrated by myself..that name was so familiar! Maybe my mind was clouded by the interview preparation at that time. I feel extremely sorry for her. And I think that I should dedicate a blog as a form of apologizing to her. (I can't believe I actually asked my friends to teach me Hyper Text Markup Language to create this blog. I felt that I owe her this)

Anyway, I felt almost as relaxed as my normal self after talking to her and her friends. When I was called for the interview, I cleared my mind and focus on giving it my very best no matter what is the outcome of it.

I was interviewed by Dr. Kon and a foreigner doctor, unfortunately I couldn't remember his name. All in all, they were very friendly. The few questions that they asked me were:
a) Whats my background
b) What do I think of IMU
c) Why do I want to be a doctor
d) Why don't I want to study medicine at overseas
e) Are you aware that IMU has no clinical facilities
f) Do you have a girlfriend <--I didn't expect this question
g) Did you commit yourself to any community services
h) Name a few uses of a pen (Other than writing and dismantling it) <--this is the most difficult creative question I come across

I don't think I'll be writing about all my answers here. But for (f), I said that I am still in my earlier years of life and I feel that I should commit my time towards my academic and career first. I would consider having a true relationship after I have graduated from my medical course. Or I might find a girl to research on for my PhD.(LOL!)
As for the uses of a pen : I said that I could use it as a hypnotising tool to stray someone's focus as I give an injection to the person.(They were quite impressed with this answer), a weight stabiliser, as a reflector when I am lost when the search and rescue team comes(yeah, its pretty dumb..I can't believe I said this as well), to mark on a person's body before I perform an incision and to puncture a tyre or paper.(I was lost for ideas and was pretty desperate at this time)
One of the interviewer then told me that the pen can also be used as a measuring tool.(My God! Why didn't I think of this??)
With that, my interview ended and it tooked me around 25-30 mins. I don't know how well i performed, but I can sincerely tell that I've gave it my best shot. Lets hope I am able to pass this hurdle and step into IMU in the future.
